This is a reprint of a blog I posted elsewhere after BrickCan 2018. Very excited to go to again this year! Although this has very little to do with actually running an online store, it amuses me. I hope you enjoy.

Welcome to the blog! – The Part Tart

1. What happens at BrickCan… Is posted online pretty much immediately.
2. Don’t bother bringing work to do on your “down times”.  You’re being delusional.
3. Sleep is over-rated.
4. Boost your immune system BEFORE you go.  You are going to meet 250 new friends, and hug or shake hands with most of them. 
5. If you imbibe, pack your favorite hangover remedy.  Bring extra to help out the unprepared.
6. Take your trade bag everywhere.  To the sessions, to meals, to presentations and after-parties.  Otherwise you are sure to encounter someone who has parts that you simply must have, and your hands will be empty.  As a backup, take a pic with your phone of what is in your bag, because you will forget at least once.
7. On the topic of trading, I was very impressed with the people who showed up prepared with small zip bags, and had their loot already sorted for easy trading on the first day.  The guy offering around the full box of fresh ziplocs quickly became every newbie’s friend.
8. Creating images of minifigs behaving inappropriately is a great way to bond with new friends.
9. For more entertaining public sessions, while standing by their MOCs, some AFOLS like to create wildly fictitious answers when asked questions about a neighboring display.  I think there should be a prize category for this.
10. Leave room in your luggage to take home loot.  And purchases.  Hiding the receipts and claiming purchases as loot may be a common practice.  Don’t tell.
11. The conference is out of this world.  Re-entry is harsh.  Book Monday off.
